Apple TV is awesome, and other stuff

One of the last purchases my family made before I found out the bad news was an Apple TV. We've had it up and running for a few days now and I am still in awe. If you have netflix you can pull from it. You can also watch youtube on it and there is other net based stuff too. Even with only 2 gigs of Ram on the computer we are using and on wireless g it's a quick load and great picture. There's also a free app, so if you have an iphone or an ipad, you can run it off of those. The Iphone/Ipad app gives a much deeper interface than the included remote, but it does get the job done. In closing, if you can spare the money, it's worth it.

So, onto other news. I have a webinar tomorrow and Thursday with the "transition" service that my ex employer is working with. Seems to me instead of "transition service" they should call it a "conscience clearing service" but that's beside the point. I'm doing my best not to be bitter, but I still have my moments. It's help I need if I want to get back on my feet quickly so I'm going to use it. I mean I've updated my resume but I'm sure that I could use help with interviews and the application process. It seems like applications have gotten more complicated than they used to be. That or I've forgotten a lot in three years.

Final note for the day. I like movies. Watched Moon last night with my wife. What a great movie that was. Little tidbit I just learned; the director Duncan Jones is David Bowie's son. Sam Rockwell is riveting as Sam Bell. I'm going to spoil the movie because I know there are tons of people that haven't seen it yet. It's great because you don't need to be a sci-fi fan to be moved by it. If you are a sci-fi fan
the puzzles are that much better. Just trust me on this.

Ok I lied, this is the final note. After watching Moon, I decided to watch Galaxy Quest again (it's on as I write this). What a fun movie. I honestly forgot Sam Rockwell was in this. He steals the show here too. One good thing about being jobless...I have plenty of time to watch movies.

Who is The Jobless Guy?

Hi, My name is Ken. I'm The Jobless Guy. Simple enough. I used to have a job, but about a week ago, my former employer decided to lay off several people. I was one of them. So, here I am. I'm kinda bored so I decided to start writing about my experiences as an unemployed person in the world. I'm not bitter. I hold no ill will towards my ex employer. That's why I'm not saying where I used to work. I still like the people I worked with and I miss being there doing my job very much. Also, I had back surgery Dec 29, 2010 to fuse my L5-S1 due to a ruptured disc there and a laminectomy on s1 to ease pressure on the nerves going down my right leg. I'm still recovering and wearing a brace.

I'm 34 years old and a virgo. I've been married to an amazing woman for almost 12 years. We have 2 amazing children, a boy in the 3rd grade and a girl in the 1st. I'm a die hard Packers fan so I'm sure once football season comes around I'll be posting a lot more about that. I love all sports and if you're interested in the other teams I like you can look at my profile. I like all kinds of music from classical to metal to pop to jazz. Anything but country.

It's hard not to be depressed when the company you've been working for for almost 3 years tells you that you don't need to come to work anymore. But I'm not here to whine or moan about being unemployed. I'm hoping that coming here and writing about other things will help me to stay positive in the new job search.

So, by now you're probably wondering what I plan to do with this blog. Basically, I just plan to talk about the things I do, be it the daytime TV I watch or job interviews (here's hoping I actually have an interview or two soon). I'll also have plenty of time to watch movies, so I'm intending to start reviewing the movies I watch. Not as a critic but as the average guy. I've only walked out of one movie in my life, so I'll admit I'm easily entertained. If there's a movie out there that you want my opinion on, just ask!
